Situation in Thailand- Completely Back to Normal

For those travellers wondering about the situation in Thailand after last month’s events, the situation is now completely back to normal. The Thai people have forgotten about the ordeal and are now looking towards the future. A new prime minister was recently elected and endorsed by the King of Thailand. There is no problem for travel to Thailand and we are convinced (as also said by the new prime minister in his speech on 17 December) that nobody will ever think again about blocking a Thailand airport since everybody has learned how much this damages the country’s economy.

Hotel promotions
In response to the financial crisis, hotels all over Thailand have started to offer discounts to encourage people to consider traveling to the Land of the Smiles again.

Update on Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport

Well it's been an arduous time for travellers either visiting or flying through Bangkok since November 26th. The situation is now almost completely back to normal in Bangkok. Don Muang Airport has fully resumed normal operations, including check-ins since 6am, December 4th. Domestic carriers are using this airport for their regular scheduled flights. At Suvarnabhumi Airport, the international airport, flights have been departing and arriving since yesterday while check-ins are still done at a location outside the airport. Starting from 11am on Friday, December 5th, check-in counters will open at Suvarnabhumi airport.

Some airlines are still using the Utapa airport (with check-in at The Bitec Convention Centre) or the Chiang Mai and Phuket airports. Most of these airlines have announced the dates that they will start operating from the Bangkok Airport airport again (most of them within the coming days). Thai Airways continues to use several airports (including Suvarnabhumi) for their
international flights out.

Since the airports are about to run normally again, airlines and hotels are now becoming stricter with cancellations. So in case you're hesitating about continuing your planned holidays to Thailand (although there is no reason to postpone the trip), please
first check about the cancellation fees.

Thailand has seen some challenging times over the years between the tsunami and now this, but its a fabulous destination, with so much to offer, so we encourage you to continue with your travel plans to visit the land of the smiles.
