Kissed by a Dolphin

I've just returned from Belize, where I was attending a tradeshow and getting further acquainted with all the exciting things to do and see in beautiful Belize. I travelled along the turquoise seas south of Belize City to Spanish Look-Out Caye, home to 4 Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphins born under human care. Here, 4 of us met with a trainer who educated us on the Natural History, physiology and care of the dolphins and how we should safely and appropriately interact with them. Then we had the most incredible experience as Maury, the dolphin in the photo, played with us, kissed our cheeks, shrieked out joyful calls as we touched her and rewarded her. She was so playful, so excited and absolutely loved to be praised.

I'm definitely not one to support animals in captivity, but this organization gives 100% focus on the welfare of these dolphins and they have a large area to roam, so they are not unhappy or disturbed. In fact, they seem really fulfilled.

If you have an extra day to tack on a dolphin experience on to one of our Belize Adventures, I highly recommend it.
Cheerio,
