Adventures in South America

I’m currently out of the office on a working vacation, accompanying Danny Catt on his Global Connections, Catt Trax 2 Expedition. We’ve spent the last 2 weeks travelling by ship down the Pacific Coast of South America, starting in Lima, Peru and we’re disembarking in Punta Arenas, Chile. It’s been a truly amazing experience. We’ve seen pods of Orca Whales and dolphins, flocks of penguins and a bunch of sea lions. By day, we’ve watched albatross glide across the gentle swells and by night observed Comet McNaught, known as the Great Comet of 2007, only visible in the Southern Hemisphere from January 12-February 9th.

The next couple of weeks we’ll be checking in on our BikeHike Adventures in Chile, Argentina and Brazil. We’ll be trekking through Torres del Paine, Chiles Patagonia, biking, hiking and horseback riding in Buenos Aires and then rappelling and rafting in Iguaçu Falls, Brazil. We’re stoked!

If you’re keen to follow our tracks, you can visit the Catt Trax 2 blog at www.catt-trax2.bcit.ca where you can read a daily journal with loads of photos of our experiences. Danny is faculty member of the British Columbia Institute of Technology and has over 1000 students following his travels across South America and Antarctica and the purpose of his journey is to increase awareness of the connections (ecological, social, climatic, economic) we have with the word around us, and in particular, North and South America.

Happy Trails,
Trish Sare
Director
