Climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro Twice in 14-days

In case any of you are trying to reach me, Trish Sare, BikeHike Director, I'll be in Tanzania for the month of August, climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest Mountain, twice in 14 days. Whew...it's a bit tiring thinking about it, but the goal is to summit the 19,340 foot mountain with my first group of intrepid BikeHikers, then come down, have a shower and start up again the very next day with my second group of adventurers. Yikes! I'm really hoping that I'll have time to do laundry.

If you're keen to follow my path, visit our Tanzania adventure at http://www.bikehike.com/kilimanjaro/kilimanjaro_trip01.html After I summit, I'm exploring some new ground to add biking to our current itinerary, so stay tuned, next year this trip will be even more exciting.

I hope to one day have a chance to meet all of you, who are so dedicated to exploring the BikeHike Adventures world of adventure.

Cheerio,
Trish Sare,

BikeHike Adventures Slovenia and Croatia Surf and Turf,

After just returning from two weeks exploring the hidden secrets of Yugoslavia’s past with BikeHike Adventures, I took a few minutes to catch my breath while looking at the photos and recalling an awesome adventure. To summarize in a few short paragraphs is difficult but I hope that you too will be inspired to challenge yourself and check out what countries of Slovenia and Croatia have to offer.

From the Julian Alps to the Adriatic Sea, Slovenia and Croatia offer a diversity of scenery that is nothing short of spectacular. Ten intrepid travelers from three countries came together to physically challenge themselves while partaking in new cultural experiences. Our expectations were fulfilled without hesitation. The stunning vistas from the hike to the Seven Triglav Lakes mountain hut were unparalleled and made the challenging hike well worth the effort!

The Medieval town of Korcula, was the backdrop for some incredible sea kayaking in Croatia. Gliding through the smooth, teal blue waters around the islands, we were rewarded with isolated beaches, seafood restaurants and even a bit of snorkeling. Biking along the undulating coastline of the island, we passed small villages, hidden bays and rocky beaches. Some of the group challenged themselves by riding 5 kilometers uphill to the town of Putnap. Others enjoyed a private beach at the bottom of that hill!

The opportunities for trying new foods presented themselves daily. Wine tasting overlooking the vineyards of Goriska brda, sampling Octopus salad at an island restaurant and sipping a Pomegranate aperitif at an Agro Turizam restaurant were just a few of our culinary experiences. We even stopped for a cappuccino in Italy! Imagine that!

As I pour over the photos sipping a Pomegranate aperitif, I am reminiscing about the adventurous two weeks spent on the continent and the new friends that I met on a trip that will be in my memory for a long time. Happy travels.

Nastrovia! Zivjeli!
